An Ark City man died Wednesday morning as a result of injuries sustained when the motorcycle he was riding struck a deer west of Medford, Okla. in Alfalfa County.

Brandon Roebuck, 38, suffered injuries to his head and other areas of his body, according to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol. He was taken to a local hospital before being transferred to Wesley Medical Center in Wichita.

He died a short time later.

The accident occurred during the early morning hours on Oklahoma Highway 11.

Friends of the man said he leaves behind two young children.

Roebuck was eastbound on the roadway on his 2005 Harley Davidson, when the deer ran in front of him. He could not control the bike, slid into a ditch and was thrown several feet.

He was not wearing a helmet, the report said.
