After nearly two years in the Cowley County Jail, former Ark City teacher Noble “Rick” Pendland III is out on bond as he awaits trial on child molestation charges.

A jail spokesperson said Pendland was released May 30.

County attorney Christopher Smith confirmed Pendland was out on bond and said the defendant was under intensive monitoring and supervision.

Since his arrest in September 2011, Pendland had been held in the county jail on $200,000 bond. It is not clear how much he was required to post before being bonded out.

He was bound over for trial in June 2012 on sex-related charges involving five boys between 10 and 14 years of age.

Pendland has entered pleas of not guilty to all counts.

In 2011, authorities investigated allegations against Pendland, and he was arrested in Sedgwick County in fall of that year.

Pendland was a foster parent in Ark City and at least one of his accusers was previously under his care.
