A murder suspect from Texas was critically injured Thursday afternoon after he crashed his vehicle on the Kansas Turnpike in Sumner County. KAKE news reports that 27-year-old Anthony Ford is hospitalized in Wichita under guard. He is a suspect in the stabbing death of a Mansfield Texas woman that occurred last weekend.

Authorities had been looking for Ford since a 23-year-old woman was found dead in her apartment late Saturday.

Kansas Highway Patrol Troopers spotted the suspect vehicle, a Pontiac Grand Am, around 2 p.m. Thursday heading southbound on the turnpike near Belle Plaine. Troopers tried to stop the car by Wellington, but the driver fled, reaching speeds of 110 to 120 miles-per-hour.

Near the stateline, Fordís car left the roadway, flipped on its top and caught fire. He was freed and taken to a hospital.
