A 911 hang up call led to the arrest of an Ark City man who is accused of tearing up property at a rural home and threatening residents with a weapon - which turned out to be a BB gun.

On Monday, Cowley County Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to a residence in the 6000 block of 322nd Rd. around 7 p.m. in response to the hang up. They spoke with two people who said a man was in the house damaging property and threatening them.

The man claimed he had a gun. Sheriff Don Read said the weapon was later determined to be a BB gun.

Further investigation led to the arrest of Chad D. Chisholm, 43, Ark City, on charges of aggravated assault and criminal threat.

Bond was set at $5,000 and he remained in jail as of early Tuesday.
