A female teacher at Winfield High School is expected to be formally charged Tuesday as a result of an investigation this spring into sexual misconduct involving students.

Cowley County Attorney Christopher Smith confirmed that a first appearance for the suspect in the case was set for 2:30 p.m. in Winfield. He would provide no further details or answer any additional questions.

No information was provided regarding the number of charges or their severity.

Court officials expect the teacher - who was placed on paid leave in May - to surrender herself to authorities prior to the first appearance. USD 465 officials could not be reached for questions regarding the teacherís current status with the district.

NewsCow will release her name once she surrenders or makes her court appearance.
