It appears another local vehicle has been gobbled up by the waters of the Arkansas River.

Just before 7:30 p.m. Sunday, Cowley County Sheriffs deputies were called to the area of 141st Rd. and 332 Rd. for the report of a disabled vehicle. When officers arrived they met a man who told them his vehicle had gone into Grouse Creek at the mouth of the Arkansas River.

The man had gone down a steep boat ramp to check on the level of the river.

He meant to put the truck, a 2000 white Dodge Ram 1500, in reverse but it ended up in drive.

The vehicle entered the river and the driver got out and swam to shore. The truck was partially exposed for a time, however officers could not see it by the time they arrived.
