25-year-old Zachary Coon - who attended Winfield schools and is a longtime local resident - was out of jail on Thursday, days after being charged with sex crimes involving a child under 14.

Sedgwick County Dist. Court officials said Coon is facing two counts of rape and a count of aggravated criminal sodomy. He is expected back in court at 9 a.m. Sept. 5.

The Wichita Eagle first reported the story online on Wednesday evening.

At that time, Coon remained in the Sedgwick County Jail with a bond set at $100,000. By Thursday he was no longer at the jail, according to an online jail log.

All charges against Coon are felonies.

Those who know Coon said he attended local schools and had been working toward a law degree.

The Eagle reports the charges centered around incidents involving a 12-year-old girl and were said to have occurred in the fall of 2012. They were reported to police earlier this month.

The Eagle's full story is available online here.
