Fire and heavy smoke caused damage to a Winfield home Wednesday morning. No one was home at the time and no injuries were reported.
Firefighters were called to the scene at 1009 E. 10th around 6:30 a.m. and arrived to find flames showing. The blaze was under control in about half an hour.
Family of the homeowners said they had left for work and were out of the house at the time the fire started. The home was valued at $77,750, according to county land records, and was owned by Chris and Shalon Lock.
The home’s west side was damaged and firefighters were at the scene investigating. No official cause has been determined so far.
