A driver found stopped at a green light in Winfield early Sunday morning was eventually arrested for driving under the influence and another alcohol-related charge.

Around 4 a.m., a Cowley County Sheriff’s deputy found the man, who appeared to be sleeping, stopped at a green. When authorities activated their emergency lights, the driver ran a red light.

After a period of investigation, 20-year-old Layne Patrick Smith, of Burden, was arrested for DUI and minor in possession and or consumption of alcohol. He was taken to jail and booked on those charges. He later posted bond and was released.
