Cowley College Trustee and former Ark City commissioner Jim Ramirez was arrested Sunday following an incident in which he is accused of striking a woman and holding her against her will.
Ramirez, 62, was taken into custody following an incident said to have occurred around 3 a.m. He could face charges of battery and criminal restraint.
Bond for Ramirez was $1,750, he posted it and was released a short time later, according to Ark City Police.
Officers were called to the 2900 block of Valley View Dr. after a battery is said to have occurred involving Ramirez and a woman. She told police Ramirez struck her and held her against her will.
The alleged victim was said to have suffered minor injuries to the face, head and wrist.
Police determined there was probable cause to make an arrest.
Ramirez joined the board of trustees in 2011 and his term expires in July of 2015, according to the school’s web site.
