KanPak is acquired by Golden State Foods

Controlling interest in Ark City-based KanPak has been acquired by Golden State Foods - one of the nationís largest processors and distributors of diversified food.

Dennis Cohlmia, who has been serving as the second generation president and chief executive officer of KanPak for more than four decades, will serve as chairman of the board of KanPak U.S. His father, George Cohlmia, originally founded KanPak in 1965.

KanPak produces a variety of dairy-based products such as smoothies, ice cream, milk shake base and packaged milk, coffees and creamers.

Its facilities include a manufacturing plant in Ark City and an administrative office in Wichita.

The company also operates facilities in Connecticut, Canada, Mexico and China. KanPak employs more than 400 full-time workers.

Some of its customers include Chick-fil-A, KFC, 7-Eleven, McDonald's, Wendy's, Nestle and Costco, among others.
