A Cowley County native was hospitalized over the weekend as a result of injuries sustained in an ATV accident in Oklahoma.

25-year-old Chrissy Terronez required exploratory surgery after arriving at a Wichita hospital. Terronez currently lives in Clearwater, however she retains close ties to family in Winfield.

A family member said Terronez was going over a hill at the sand dunes of Little Sahara State Park in Waynoka, Okla. when the accident occurred. She struck a cable while riding a four-wheeler and sustained considerable damage to her liver, pancreas and spleen.

She also has endured a substantial amount of internal bleeding. The accident occurred late Friday night or early Saturday morning.

KSOK Radio and NewsCow will provide you with updated information on Terronez’s condition as it becomes available.
