Ark City Police are looking for an armed man said to have robbed the Casey’s General Store on W. Madison Thursday afternoon.

Around 1:30 p.m., an employee of the store called 911 to say they had just been robbed at gunpoint. The man is said to have demanded money from a woman working the register and brandished a handgun before leaving with an undisclosed amount of cash.

The suspect reportedly departed on foot and headed southbound in the alley toward Monroe St.

The suspect is described as a white male, 20 to 30 years in age, 200 to 225 pounds, 5 feet 6 inches to 5 feet 10 inches tall, wearing a gray pullover hoody sweatshirt with the hood over a cap with a red bill, black sweat pants and tan lace up work style boots.

The subject may have a slight amount of facial hair in the form of a goatee.

The handgun was said to be dark in color.

The store is located at 625 W. Madison.

Police cordoned off the area and secured the scene. Employees of the store were being interviewed in regard to the investigation.

A short time later, officers were informed of a small silver SUV, or CRV type vehicle, driving in an erratic manner away from the area on Monroe. It is unknown at this time whether or not the vehicle and its occupants are involved in the incident at Casey’s.
