A local woman remains in jail following an incident Friday in the parking lot of Winfield Walmart in which she accused of attacking police officers attempting to arrest her.

24-year-old Josie C. Bitting, who police records show is from Udall, is currently being held with bond set at $2,500. She remained in the Cowley County Jail Monday morning, according to a spokesperson.

Around 4:50 p.m., authorities were called to the parking lot in the 2200 block of Pike Rd. in response to a disturbance. Bitting’s parents reported that the woman was intoxicated and they were trying to prevent her from driving.

Bitting was said to have become combative with officers trying to take her into custody. She kicked one officer in the groin and bit another on the arm, according to chief Danny Parker.

Neither officer required medical attention.

Bitting is facing a charge of disorderly conduct and two counts of battery on a law enforcement officer.
