Police in Ark City have arrested a 24-year-old local man on drug charges and traffic-related infractions.

Colton Schalk was pulled over just before 2 a.m. Wednesday in the 200 block of N. D Street. An officer stopped him because his vehicle had an expired license plate.

Police then determined Schalk had a suspended license and no insurance. The lack of insurance led authorities to take an inventory of the vehicle and thatís when they found meth and drug-sale paraphernalia, according to a report on the incident.

That evidence will be sent to the KBI for further analysis.

Schalk was arrested and taken to the Cowley County Jail. His bond was set at $13,100.

He faces charges for possession of meth with intent to sell within 1,000 feet of a school, paraphernalia and for the suspended license, expired license plate and having no insurance.
