Reports of a reckless driver in the southern portion of Ark City early New Year’s Day led authorities to arrest a local man on alcohol, drug and traffic-related charges.

Kyle A. Oestmann, 30, Ark City, was pulled over just before 1 a.m. in the 1400 block of S. Summit. A deputy responded to reports of reckless driving and responded to an area near Summit and the 77 bypass where the vehicle was observed traveling at a high rate of speed.

Other motorists reported the vehicle had run a stop sign and nearly struck another vehicle.

Oestmann, according to a report, told officers he’d had too much to drink.

An investigation led to his arrest on charges of possession of narcotics, no drug tax stamp, DUI, refusing a chemical test, no insurance, reckless driving, unlawful registration and transporting an open container.

Oestmann posted $9,200 bond and was released from the county jail.
