A Winfield man - who fled from his work release assignment last week - has been arrested in Sedgwick County, the Cowley County Sheriff’s department reports.

NewsCow reported last week that 28-year-old Dustin Dean Daniels had failed to return to the county jail after completing his shift at a job. Authorities were informed he was missing and issued a warrant for his arrest on a charge of escaping from custody.

Around 6:45 p.m. Saturday, county officials were informed that Daniels had been arrested on that warrant in Sedgwick County. He also now has local charges pending in Wichita.

A hold was placed on Daniels and he will return to Cowley County once his charges have been resolved in Wichita.

He had been serving a year in the Cowley County jail on various misdemeanor charges. He began serving that sentence on Dec. 9.
