Two area residents are expected to fully recover from injuries sustained in an accident early Tuesday south of Udall.

The accident occurred just before 8 a.m. near the intersection of Cowley 3 and 132nd Rd. Cowley Sheriff’s investigators turned the case over to the Kansas Highway Patrol because both parties involved have at times done part-time work for the sheriff’s dept.

Sheriff Don Read said all those involved were expected to fully recover from injuries that were not considered life threatening.

The highway patrol said the accident occurred as 26-year-old Blane Tanner of Udall was southbound on Cowley 3 in a 2006 Chevy passenger car.

Tanner is said to have attempted to turn left on 132nd Rd. and entered the path of 45-year-old Kristi Powers of Winfield. She was driving a 1995 Nissan truck.

The two vehicles collided.

Both drivers were wearing seat belts, according to the highway patrol.
