Expired vehicle registration led to a traffic stop early Wednesday morning that put two Winfield men in jail.

The incident happened around 2 a.m. in the 1700 block of Ames when Cowley County Sheriff deputies stopped the vehicle over registration issues. 29-year-old Nikom Khammanyvong was arrested for criminal carrying of a weapon, driving with a canceled or suspended license, illegal registration and no insurance.

49-year-old Landon Onek was arrested for possession of meth, possession of drug use paraphernalia and a probation violation.

Both men were booked into the Cowley County Jail and remained there as of Thursday.
