He came within a whisker of heading to the Kansas Legislature in November 2012, and now Winfield’s Larry Alley is back for a third try at unseating incumbent 79th Dist. state Rep. Ed Trimmer.

Alley filed with the state to be a Republican candidate for the seat, which is on the ballot in November.

He presumably will face incumbent Ed Trimmer who has not formally filed for office but has told NewsCow he will be seeking reelection.

In 2012, Trimmer bested Alley by just 65 votes in a race in which more than 8,000 votes were cast. Alley was on the ballot as an independent in 2010.

The 79th consists of portions Cowley County, including Winfield, and Sumner County.
