Patricia Rosecrans

Patricia A. Rosecrans, 81, of Winfield, passed away May 1, 2010, in Wichita, Kansas.

Services will be at 1 p.m. on Friday, May 7, at the First United Methodist Church in Winfield. A private burial service will be held at Highland Cemetery. Arrangements are made by Swisher Taylor.

Memorials are to the Winfield Public Library, First United Methodist Tuesday’s Table, and Habitat for Humanity.

Pat was born February 1, 1929, in Winfield to Melvin "Mont" and Herberta Taylor. She grew up on a farm and fruit orchard west of Winfield and attended Hillview, a one room school house through eighth grade and then graduated from Winfield High School in 1947. She received her teaching degree from Southwestern College. She taught school in Mulvane and Sublette, then later in Winfield as a fourth grade teacher at Bryant and Irving Elementary schools.

She married William Rosecrans on May 31, 1953, in Winfield. They lived and farmed west of Winfield. She taught school for 32 years and helped on the family farm.

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Winfield, P.E.O. Chapter CU and D.A.R. She was also a member of the Garden Club, Eve Club and Delta Kappa Gamma.

She and Bill enjoyed traveling together after retirement and also later enjoyed crossword puzzles and keeping up with friends and family with phone calls and emails.

Pat is survived by her husband, Bill; her children, Stephen Rosecrans and wife, Diane, and Nancy Miller and husband, Kent, all of Winfield; her grandchildren, Ryan Rosecrans and wife Adrienne, Spring, Tx, Kyle Miller and fiance, Laura Gore, Olathe, Craig Miller and wife, Brie, Bennington, Neb., Lori Rosecrans, Winfield, and Emily Miller, Winfield.
