AC trades board revokes contractor’s license

City officials in Ark City have revoked the license of a contractor said to have taken large deposits for work that was never performed.

The city’s building trades board acted last week against Ponca City-based 4 States Exteriors. Board members also agreed to cash the required bond the company posted, according to Matt Rowland, the city’s director of building.

Two citizens testified that the company had taken a sizable deposit for roofing and related work that never started. Work had been put off and materials were never delivered to the job site.

Rowland contacted the company’s owner, Kris Haas, about the issue and was told the situation would be remedied. That was more than three weeks ago and work never began.

The company also had been working under a suspended license because the qualifying person on the license had left the 4 States.

The company has 10 days to appeal the action taken.

Rowland recommends that anyone who has made a deposit with the company contact his office at 441-4420.
