Deputies talk with man hunting from van

Cowley County Sheriff deputies were called upon Wednesday afternoon to speak with a man hunting from his vehicle.

Around 5:20 p.m., officers were sent to the area of 42nd and 51st Roads in the north portion of Cowley County. A subject, with a rifle pointing out the window, was said to be in the area in a white panel van with Sedgwick County plates.

Authorities found the van and its driver, who said he was disabled and had a permit to hunt from his vehicle. The man, however, did not have the permit on his person.

He was advised he could not hunt if he did not have the permit with him. The man was told to leave the area.

The subject was not named publicly but his name and vehicle information will be given to the Wildlife and Parks enforcement officer for this area.
