An Ark City man was hospitalized following an accident Wednesday in Winfield involving a SUV and a motorcycle, according to a news release from the Winfield Police Department early Thursday evening.
At approximately 1:45 p.m. Wednesday, members of the WPD and Winfield Fire and EMS were dispatched to the intersection of 8th Avenue and College Street in Winfield for a report of an injury accident involving a motorcycle.
During the investigation officers learned that a Sport Utility Vehicle operated by Stanton Newby of Winfield was southbound attempting to turn left (east) from College Street onto 8th Avenue when his vehicle collided with the motorcycle which was traveling northbound and was operated by Robert Hicks of Ark City.
Hicks was later transported to a Wichita area hospital due to injuries sustained in the collision.
Newby was cited for failure to yield right of way.
