Airline miles help soldiers see families

Donated airline miles have made it possible for Tami and Chief Warrant Officer 4 Cannon Cargile’s family to visit him while recovering from wounds suffered in an ambush in Iraq in March.

Tami Cargile was at her husband’s side at the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, Md., since he arrived a few days after his Humvee was hit by a rocket propelled grenade March 10. His mother, Claudia Cargile, arrived a few days later from her California home, His dad, Tom Cargile, has visited several times.

The couple’s oldest daughter, Amanda, is 23 and married to a Marine. Jessica is 18 and a senior in high school, and Matthew celebrated his 16th birthday at the Medical Center while visiting his dad. They live near Camp Lejeune in North Carolina.

Donated airline miles also helped reunite the 1982 Winfield High School graduate and former Southwestern College student with two of his brothers and their families.
