Survey Work To Start For Proposed Bridge Replacement On 160 In West Winfield

Field survey work will begin as early as this week for the proposed replacement of the U.S. 160 bridge in West Winfield.

The bridge spans the Walnut River not far from the fairgrounds. A survey could begin as soon as Tuesday.

The proposed replacement, by the Kansas Department of Transportation, is 8.3 miles east of the Sumner and Cowley county line. The approximate length of the survey is 3,500 feet, and is based on the existing alignment.

This field survey effort, to gather information needed for the detailed design of the proposed improvement, is estimated to be completed by May 15, according to a media release from KDOT.

A member of the survey crew first will contact property owners and, or, tenants for permission to enter private property. Activity will include the use of survey instruments on the ground to determine locations of existing features within the survey corridor.

Mike Adams, P.S., Survey Project Manager, CFSE, will be in charge of this survey for KDOT.
