Hughes gets probation for attempted murder

A Wichita man - convicted of attempted murder for shooting at his mother during an incident near Winfield last year - has been sentenced to three years probation.

On Tuesday, Jonathan D. Hughes, 23, was in the same Winfield courtroom where in February he had been convicted by a jury of attempted second-degree murder, aggravated assault and criminal restraint. He was facing a prison sentence of up to 59 months.
