Winfield Hospital Has Considerable Interest In Open CEO Position

William Newton Hospital in Winfield so far has received 42 applications for its CEO position. Ben Quinton resigned from that position effective Sept. 30.

Brian Barta is currently serving as interim CEO. The hospital began accepting applications Oct. 7.

The board intends to close the application process Friday.

Joan Cales, who serves as chair for the five-member volunteer board, said that resumes for all qualified candidates are currently being reviewed by each board member. The next regular board meeting is scheduled for Oct. 27, and Cales said the board plans to narrow down the candidates and determine the next steps at that time.

The board is utilizing the most current compensation and benefit survey published by the Kansas Hospital Association to benchmark the wage scale for the CEO position, a according to a media release.
