A 24-year-old Ark City man was injured Friday in an accident involving a semi and car at Strother Field.
Around 10 a.m., emergency crews were called to the 22000 block of U.S. 77 for the report of an injury accident.
A 2014 white Freightliner TT driven by Ali Abdirisiak, 39, of Nebraska was traveling east from D Street in Strother Field, crossing US 77. He collided with a white 2014 Dodge Avenger driven by Gustavo Francisco, 24, in the southbound lane.
The Dodge was caught underneath the Freightliner and was removed by Winfield Fire/EMS services. Francisco was transported to Wesley Medical Center by ambulance and Abdirisiak not report any injuries.
An update on Francisco’s current condition was not immediately available.
The Cowley County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Kansas Dept. of Transportation for traffic Control.
