A river flood warning for the Arkansas River at Arkansas City is in effect until Monday night.
The warning was issued early Monday morning by the National Weather Service office in Wichita.
Flood stage is 17 feet. At flood stage, the flooding of agricultural lands is expected, especially on the south bank with overflow on the west side of the river, according to the weather service.
At 8 a.m. Monday, the river stood at 18.1 feet, according to the Ark City Police Department.
The flood warning for southeastern Elk County was extended early this morning until 12:45 a.m. Flooding was occurring along U.S. 160 east of Longton, the weather service reported.
