High winds expected throughout the day

A wind advisory is in effect until 7 p.m. Thursday according to the National Weather Service.

South winds of 30 to 40 miles per hour, with gusts of up to 50 miles per hour, are expected. Very strong winds are to continue into the evening with the strongest winds in an area beginning in southeast Kansas and extending to Cowley.

A wind advisory means that sustained winds of at least 30 miles per hour and, or, wind gusts of over 45 miles per hour are likely. Winds this strong can make driving difficult, especially for high profile vehicles.

Extra caution is recommended.
