Dexter’s annual barbecue is set for Sat.

A day of fun and some good barbecue are on tap for Saturday in one Cowley County town.

The Dexter Barbecue begins with a parade at noon, followed by street games for kids and adults that begin at 1 p.m. Games include turtle races, egg toss and bike races, as well as games parents and their kids can play together.

But the day’s main attraction is the barbecue meals that are served at 5 p.m. A plate with one sandwich is $6 and a plate with two sandwiches is $8. Plates include corn on the cob, baked beans and a drink.

Home National Bank is sponsoring a watermelon feed that begins an hour after dinner begins. A community dance concludes the day and begins at 8:30 p.m.

A volleyball tournament, car show, raffles and concessions are part of activities that last last all day. The activities are sponsored by the Dexter Civic Club.

A pie tasting is set for 1 p.m. To 5 p.m. And a pie auction is set for 6 p.m. The event is sponsored by DEDA.
