Local cowboy’s truck burns on the range

A Burden man attempting to round up cattle had to hoof it home Friday after his pickup got stuck in a ditch and caught on fire, according to the Cowley County Sheriff’s Office.

Daron Triplett was working cattle in the 21000 block of 112th Road in Burden when his truck’s exhaust overheated and caught the truck on fire, a report said. Triplett was not injured in the blaze, which was put out with the help of Burden’s volunteer fire department.

Triplett’s vehicle was a complete loss. It was valued at $3,000.
