Burden pizza place gets NetWork Kan. loan

CJ’s, a pizza restaurant in Burden, has been awarded a matching loan through the NetWork Kansas program. CJ’s is owned and operated by Kenneth and Beej Taylor.

South Central Kansas Economic Development District, Inc., a regional NetWork Kansas resource partner in Wichita, is providing funding and administering the loan package. Cowley College, another partner, provided extensive business planning and consulting help to the Taylors.

The Taylors said they used the loan to refinance a higher interest loan, which helped lower monthly expenses and provide capital for continued growth. CJ’s is located in downtown Burden.

“The combination of support we received from both resource partners and NetWork Kansas was invaluable. Not only did we buy the building and make extensive, much-needed repairs?we also expanded our menu and doubled our daily sales as a result,” Beej Taylor, co-owner and manager, said.

NetWork Kansas was established as a component of the Kansas Economic Growth Act of 2004 to further establish entrepreneurship and small business as a priority for economic and community development in the State of Kansas.
