Ark City library director appointed to board

The director of the Arkansas City Public Library has been appointed to the State Library of Kansas board by Gov. Kathleen Sebelius.

Michelle Swain, Ark City, was one of 11 appointed to the board, which was created with senate bill 67 and signed by the governor during the 2007 legislative session.

“Ensuring that our public schools and regents institutions have access to the library network expands the opportunities Kansans have to read, learn and explore, Sebelius said.

Others appointed from this area include Micaela Ayers, the library director at Butler County Community College, and Marion Renner, a retired teacher from Haysville.

Members will serve four year terms.
