Six is named Kansas’ next Attorney General

Douglass County district Judge Stephen N. Six Kansas’ next attorney general Friday morning by Gov. Kathleen Sebelius.

He will replace Attorney General Paul Morrison who announced his resignation last month after acknowledging an affair with a former co-worker.

Six, 46, of Lawrence, is the son of retired Kansas Supreme Court justice Fred Six. He earned his law degree from the University of Kansas Law School and once clerked for the U.S. court of appeals.

Morrison is set to leave office at the end of this month. The attorney general’s office is leading the prosecution of Cowley County murder suspect Justin Thurber. He accused of murdering Cowley College student Jodi Sanderholm.
