Legacy reaches goals for 2 matching grants

Winfield-based Legacy Community Foundation has fulfilled two challenge grants from the The Kansas Health Foundation, the organizations announced Friday. One grant helped Legacy add more than $1 million to its endowment fund.

Legacy received $350,000 from the health foundation for achieving a goal of adding $700,000 to its endowment. The second grant, a 2 to 1 match for Legacy’s operating fund, provided $200,000 for day to day operations of the non-profit organization, says executive director Pam Moore.

In 2007, Legacy gave more than $150,000 children’s programs and other community efforts.

“In 2008 we look forward to giving more,” Moore says.

The Kansas Health Foundation is a private philanthropy dedicated to improving the health of all Kansans.
