AC Cops: Boy made up school shooting tale

An Arkansas City High School student faces criminal charges and was suspended from school after admitting he made up a story about plans for a school shooting. Police have not released the teen boy’s name.

The investigation into rumors about a shooting plan began Wednesday when high school officials contacted the police department. Officials provided police with a name of a person thought to be planning the shooting.

The student was contacted and he claimed he overheard two other students making plans, according to a written statement released by Ark City Police Chief Sean Wallace.

Officers went to the high school early Thursday at for the purposes of further investigating the allegations that a school shooting was going to occur. Contact was again made with the students who claimed he overheard the two subjects planning a school shooting.

The two individuals who he claimed were going to commit the shooting denied it. The student making these claims, eventually admitted that he’d made the up the story in an attempt to get the other two students in trouble due to the fact that they had been picking on him for several days.

This 15-year-old juvenile male who made these allegations against these two was charged with criminal threat and released to his parents, according to the written statement. He has been suspended from school pending further administrative action.
