Graffiti mostly in the shape of a Swastika was discovered on play equipment in the community-built castle play area at Island Park Sunday. Other types of graffiti were also located in the play area, Winfield Police Chief Jerry DeVore said.
Officers discovered the graffiti about 4:30 p.m. after responding to a report of property damage. They found damage to ceramic tiles as they entered the play area.
Police are looking for a newer model blue pickup bearing Indiana plates and an older model maroon passenger car that were observed in the area by an officer at approximately 9:30 p.m. Saturday, DeVore said.
Anyone with information regarding the incident is asked to contact the police department at 221-5555 or to make an anonymous report by calling crime stoppers at 221-7777.
