Cowley County officials have released the following schedule for opening phase 1 of the new county jail.
This is the schedule:
Sunday, Feb. 24 – County to initiate 21-day staff training period.
Wednesday, March 5 (1 p.m. to 5 p.m.) County employee tours.
Friday, March 7 (Tours at 3,4,5,6 & 7 p.m.) Tour for Citizen Bond Oversight Committee and three prior jail committees.
Saturday, March 8 ( 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.) Tours for general public.
Sunday, March 9 (1 p.m. to 6 p.m.) Tours for general public.
Monday, March 10 (9 a.m. to 7 p.m.) Tours for general public.
Tuesday, March 11 (3 p.m.) Special County Commission meeting – project inspection to approve “Certificate of Substantial Completion” for Phase I.
Wednesday, March 12 Orientation for area law enforcement agencies.
Sunday, March 16 Effective date of “Certificate of Substantial Completion” for Phase I; Effective date for Phase I Project Warranties; County to occupy Phase 1 (Relocate inmates)
Monday, March 17 County to issue notice to proceed to Conic Construction on the demolition of existing county jail.
