Weather shouldn’t get ugly today, NWS says

The threat of severe thunderstorms for this area Thursday was “looking very small,” National Weather Service meteorologist Rob Cox said mid-morning.

“It looks like maybe some showers and the rumble of thunderstorms,” he said. “For the most part, we’re looking at a lot of clouds and temperatures cooling off after the front passes through later this afternoon.”

Tulsa and Dallas were in the “red zone” today – the area defined by the NWS as most likely to see tornadoes. The zone extended towards the Kansas border.

The National Weather Service at Dodge City canceled the high wind advisory for western Kansas this morning.
