Man arrested after fight near Geuda Saturday

A Geuda Springs man was arrested for being involved in a fight and firing a weapon into the air during an altercation at a weekend party, Undersheriff Don Read said Monday.

Moody Alford, 49, was booked into the county jail but has since bonded out. He is scheduled to appear in court May 13. Alford faces charges of aggravated battery and criminal threat.

Amanda Stoll, 22, Arkansas City, and Samantha Swisher, 27, Enid, Okla., were each arrested on a battery charge for their involvement in the same incident.

Alford called sheriff’s deputies just before 1 a.m to say that he had been the victim of battery at a party he was attending in the 24000 block of 11th Road. The property is near the Cowley-Sumner line near Geuda Springs.

Officers arrived and spoke with Stoll and Swisher who said Alford had assaulted their father. The two women said they stepped in to break up the fight.

According to the women, the fight ended and Alford left. He returned with a gun and started firing in the air and threatening to shoot people, which led to the criminal threat charge.

Alford and Stoll each suffered injuries during the altercation and Alford was reported to have struck one of the women with the butt of a gun. Stoll was treated for a cut to the forehead.

Alford fled the scene of the fight but was later located and arrested. During the search for Alford, police pulled over a car with four people in it and all but the driver admitted to drinking under age. Two were cited for underage drinking and a 17-year-old was taken to juvenile intake and later released to his parents.

The people in the vehicle were not associated with the fight near Geuda Springs.
