The Board of Directors of the Cowley County Crime Stoppers Inc. has approved the following for crime of the month in April.
During the early morning hours on March 22, several people and businesses were the victim of criminal damage to property when an unknown subject or subjects used a rifle and shot mailboxes, road signs, yard lights, vehicles and a building.
The following were victims of criminal damage to property; Rural Water District #4, James Neal, Don Bradberry, Westar Energy, Pam Bryant, Roy Crane and Cowley County. Total Damage was estimated at over $1,000.
One victim reported hearing shots fired outside his residence between 12:30 a.m. and 1:30 a.m. He later found that his mailbox had been shot.
On this same date the Winfield Police Department also received a report of an incident where a vehicle that was parked in the northeast part of town was damaged by a gunshot.

13000 Block 131st Road – Mailbox
13000 Block 132nd Road – Road Signs
11000 Block 132nd Road – Mailbox
11000 Block 141st Road – Yard Light
7000 Block 242nd Road – Mailbox
24000 Block 85th Road – Yard Light
27000 Block 85th Road – Pickup Tailgate
The sheriff’s Office has retrieved some physical evidence at some of these locations.
Investigators are asking for assistance from anyone who may have information about these crimes.
Cowley County Crime Stoppers is offering a reward of up to $1,000 for information leading to the arrest of the person or persons responsible for these crimes.
