Tuesday may bring severe weather to area

The hazardous weather outlook for this area calls for the possibility for severe weather in western Kansas today and in this area Tuesday night through Wednesday night.

Any thunderstorms over central and south central Kansas today should be neither strong nor severe, according to the National Weather Service in Wichita.

The severe thunderstorms possible Tuesday and Tuesday night are expected in areas along and west of a line from? Wellington to Wichita to Hillsboro where quarter size hail and winds around 60 miles an hour are both possible.

Thunderstorms are likely for all areas on Wednesday and Wednesday evening and may be severe with large hail, damaging winds and?possibly even a few tornadoes. The NWS believes that at this time the best chances for severe convection is over south-central and southeast Kansas.

More than 25 tornadoes were reported in mid-America Thursday and Friday. Seven people were killed in Arkansas.

Spotters are not expected to be needed in this area today or tonight.
