A semi ran off an Elk County highway Monday morning and overturned in a ditch. The driver, Monica Benson, 56, Derby, was taken to the Greenwood County Hospital, according to the Kansas Highway Patrol.
The accident occurred about 9 a.m. on K-99, five miles south of Howard. Benson was driving south when she reached to pick up something.
The right tires dropped off the edge of the road and the 2007 Kenworth?tractor – which was pulling a trailer – went down into the ditch. Benson was trying to get out of the ditch when the truck flipped over on its side.
