Wreck spree culprit gets 32 months in prison

An Arkansas City man who struck the large wreath at the entrance to the Isle of Lights and burglarized two churches last December was ordered Thursday to spend 32 months in prison.

Franklin Pettie Jr., 40, was originally charged with 16 crimes but pleaded guilty to five of the crimes. He was sentenced to serve time for each of the five but the sentences were ordered to be served at the same time.

He was also ordered to pay $15,243 in restitution to his victims.

Probation was not considered, according to court records.

Pettie robbed the Rose DeSharon Church and the Church of Christ before he drove a stolen pickup to Winfield where he was involved in four hit and run accidents before damaging the wreath.
