Cars collide at major intersection Saturday

An Arkansas City girl was injured Saturday when the car she was driving collided with another vehicle on U.S. 166 highway east of Ark City, according to the Kansas Highway Patrol.

Adrianne Spielman, 16, was transported to William Newton Hospital in Winfield for treatment of possible injuries. She was wearing a seatbelt.

The accident occurred around 8 p.m. when Spielman failed to stop her 1999 Mercury and struck a pickup that was stopped on U.S. 166 waiting to turn into a private business. Spielman’s vehicle hit the truck in the side rear bumper.

Jeanna Matthews, 28, Ark City, was the driver of the second car. She was not injured.

Joshua Camp, 16, Ark City was a passenger in Spielman’s car and was also unhurt. Matthews and Camp were both wearing seat belts.

The accident occurred near the U.S. 77 and U.S. 166 junction.
