Chief: Toxicology on infant still 60 days out

Arkansas City Police Chief Sean Wallace said he does not expect the results of a toxicology screen on a baby who died in May for another 60 days or more.

Three-month-old Isabel Brown was not breathing when police responded to an emergency call at the child’s home May 4. She was pronounced dead at the local hospital.

An autopsy was inconclusive. Doctors at South Central Kansas Regional Medical Center suggested Sudden Infant Death Syndrome may have caused the death, according to Wallace.

The baby’s father, Jeremy Brown, were arrested after police found illegal drugs in the home.
