A pick up reported stolen in 2006 was discovered in Veteran’s Lake in Arkansas City Sunday by divers mapping the lake, Ark City Police Chief Sean Wallace said.
City employee Gary Baugher was diving with a group when the 1979 Chevrolet K-1500 flatbed pick up truck was found about 10 feet down just to the north of the boat ramp.
The vehicle belonged to Earl Dillon, 54, Ark City, who reported the truck stolen. It was removed from the lake and turned over to Dillon. Wallace said there are no suspects at this time.
Veteran’s Lake is also known as Sixth Street Pond.
