Clarkson appointed to county health board

Former Cowley County Commissioner Carmelita Clarkson has been appointed to the city-Cowley County Board of Health.

The board recommended Clarkson complete the unexpired term for the at-large position vacated by Rachel Miller. The term runs expires at the end of 2009.

The county commission voted Tuesday morning to support the health board’s recommendation. The commission appoints three at-large members, one medical society member and one dental society member to three-year positions.

At last week’s commission meeting, Kent Radclliff of Dexter was appointed to the vacant Dexter Township treasurer position for the remainder of the unexpired term, which runs through Jan. 14, 2013.
